AC Milan are in pole position to secure the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, according to the player’s agent.

The Sun had linked the Turkish international with a switch to either Arsenal or Chelsea but speaking to German magazine Kicker, Bektas Demirtas revealed that there is an agreement between the player and the Italian club over a transfer. Milan have however yet to agree a transfer fee with his current club:

“We have had good discussions with AC Milan. now it is important that the clubs can reach an agreement. If the clubs have reached an agreement, we could make the final talks with the AC Milan officials.”

Kicker report that Milan have been in contact for the past few weeks and a rough outline for personal terms has been agreed upon. It is now down to AC Milan to make an offer acceptable to Leverkusen.

Apparently the Bundesliga side are willing sellers. The 23 year old made 22 appearances last season, scoring seven goals and contributing seven assists. He however missed the last four months of the league season after being suspended by the Court of Arbitration for Sport for breach of contract when he reneged on a move to join Trabzonspor from Karlsruhe in 2011.
