The 27-year-old England international has been a bit-part player for the Gunners since the arrival of Nacho Monreal from Malaga in 2013. This season, Gibbs only featured in 11 Premier League games under Arsene Wenger and a further 11 in Europe and domestic cup competitions.
Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez is looking to add experience to his Toon side having won the Championship to avoid relegation in the upcoming season and believes Gibbs would offer this.
Arsenal would be willing to listen to offers for Gibbs this summer and, according to the Daily Mirror, want around £15million for his departure. Newcastle would easily be able to offer this amount for the left-back’s services, but may well haggle to bring the price down knowing Gibbs is not a regular at the Emirates.
West Brom are also reportedly interested in the Arsenal man.
