Monaco head coach Leonardo Jardim believes being included in France’s World Cup squad summer could persuade Kylian Mbappe to remain at the Ligue One side.

The French wonderkid is the most sought after signing of the summer, but his Portuguese boss has offered a word of caution about moving clubs too soon.

Talking to French TV station Canal+ Sport (quotes via L’Equipe), Jardim believes the 18 year old has time on his side to move to a bigger club, and that he should stay for the time being to ensure he has first team football in a World Cup year:

“Kylian today can play anywhere, but I would like him to continue in Monaco, because he has our confidence. Before the World Cup, He can continue to do a good job at Monaco. He has time to go to a big club.”

Whether such an argument will hold any sway with the player, we will have to wait and see. Mbappe will no doubt be given plenty of games if he made the switch to Arsenal, but if any club splashes out over £100m for a player, they will likely give the Frenchman all the game time he needs as well.
