The agent of Tigres UANL striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has denied that Arsenal are interested in signing the 31 year old this summer.

ESPN Deportes reported yesterday that the Gunners were keen on signing the French international this summer but when asked by Record Mexico about the link, Jean-Christophe Cano replied:

“The rumours are false.”

Gignac made the surprising move to Mexico two years ago after leaving Marseille on a free transfer. Despite his choice of country though, France manager Didier Deschamps recalled the forward to the national side in November 2015. He then went on to feature for his country at Euro 2016.

Th Frenchman, who scored 22 goals last season, has been a target for Arsenal in the past with manager Arsene Wenger believed to be an admirer. Still, with another recognised target man in the squad in Olivier Giroud who only signed a new contract in January, the link to Gignac always looked unlikely.

With reports that the Gunners have offered £87m for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, it looks certain the club are aiming their ambitions higher this summer.
