Munich have entered the race to sign Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri, according to Le Parisien.

The French newspaper reports the Bundesliga champions are seeking to strengthen their midfield after the retirement of Xabi Alonso, and will make a move for the in-demand Ivorian international.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, along with a number of other clubs, are looking at the 25 year old, and with manager having been photographed with chief executive in Nice over the past week, speculation has mounted about a possible bid from the Gunners.

Seri was one of Nice’s standout performers last season as the French club finished third in Ligue One behind champions and Paris Saint-Germain. He played 39 times in all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists.

He was only bought for £850,000 from Portuguese club Pacos Ferreira two years ago, but he could now command a fee of €40m with Nice president Jean Pierre Rivere confirming that the player could leave if a club meets the release clause.
