Barcelona are interested in signing Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez according to Spanish radio station RAC1 (via Mundo Deportivo).
The programme ‘Tu Diras’ have reported that the Algerian international is on a list of targets that Barca are looking at this summer. The 26 year old is also believed to be interesting Arsenal after manager Arsene Wenger spoke to the French media regarding the Gunners’s interest in the midfielder.
Speaking to BeIn Sports in France (translated by the BBC), Wenger said a bid may or may not happen before the end of the transfer window:
“Have we made a bid for him? No. Not yet. Not yet means it could happen, it could not happen.”
Mahrez has already signalled his intention to leave the King Power Stadium this summer. After winning the PFA Player of the Year two seasons ago, he struggled to replicate the same level of form last campaign.
He still managed to score ten goals and provide seven assists in 48 games in all competitions for Leicester, but that was still less than the 18 goals and ten assists he contributed to the club’s title winning season.
