Arsene Wenger is considering a summer move for Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, according to the Daily Mail.

Wenger is putting together a striker wishlist this summer with the future of Alexis Sanchez still in doubt, and Martial is reportedly on it, along with Kylian Mbappe and Alexandre Lacazette.

It’s believed that the Gunners are prepared to offer United around £40million for Martial, who has fallen out-of-favour with Jose Mourinho.

Wenger knows that striking a deal with Mourinho for the 21-year-old will prove a difficult task, therefore the Frenchman hopes to take negotiations to board room level to convince the United hierarchy to sell a bit-part player for such a big transfer fee.

Martial joined United from Monaco in 2015 for an initial £36million, but the fee could rise to a massive £58million after a certain amount of goals were scored and the youngster won the Ballon d’Or.

The United forward had an impressive debut season at Old Trafford under then manager Louis van Gaal, scoring 17 goals in 49 total appearances.

However, the France international struggled last season. He was in and out of the side and made just 18 Premier League starts, ending the campaign with only eight goals in all competitions to his name.

Martial may now look to move on knowing he is not favoured under Mourinho, who in turn could look to push him out of Old Trafford this summer.

Would a £40million be a good move for Arsenal to undertake this summer?
