The Serbian is currently on loan from Torino but will join the Partenopei permanently at the end of the month. The 25 year old was however not a regular in Maurizio Sarri’s side last season, making just ten starts and 12 appearances in total.
Speaking on Radio programme “Radio Goal,” journalist told listeners that Arsenal had been scouting the defender:
“There is interest from Arsenal in Nikola Maksimovic. No official offer for the moment, but there was an important survey by the London club.”
Maksimovic has 16 caps for Serbia and was in high demand last season before joining Napoli. Whether the Gunners have a genuine interest in the signing him this summer is debatable though.
Arsene Wenger has four centre backs currently in the squad with Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi, Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker. Out of the four, Mertesacker is the likeliest to leave but even so, despite only making one appearance last season, he was given a new one year contract back in January.
