The agent of Arsenal striker Lucas Perez has confirmed that Sevilla have re-entered the race to sign the forward, and that the Spaniard could leave as early as next month.
The La Liga club were interested in the 28 year old before he made the £17million switch to the Gunners from Deportivo La Coruna last summer. Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle told Radio Gallega (translated by the Evening Standard) that he is anticipating some movement on a transfer at the start of July:
“The key date is July 3rd when Arsenal’s preseason begins. Anything is possible – the president of Depor can do wonders, while last year I met with Sevilla, who again are interested.”
Lovelle had previously stated he hadn’t heard from Sevilla since his meeting last summer. Perez had been a target for previous Sporting Director Monchi but after he left for Roma, he was replaced by Oscar Arias.
Arias had been waiting to confirm former Celta Vigo manager Eduardo Berizzo as the club’s new head coach before making plans for the summer transfer window. With Berizzo now officially in place after being announced a few days ago, it seems as if the Spanish side have now made contact with Lovelle once again to register their interest.
