So, the latest on Alexis Sanchez’s future is that Bayern Munich have reportedly held talks with his agent ahead of a potential summer move. I’m not surprised to hear this to be honest.
As we are all well aware by now, the Chile international, 28, has yet to commit his long-term future to Arsenal with only one year left to run on his existing one come the end of the season. Talks over a new deal have stalled, with reports suggesting Sanchez turned down a couple offers already from the Gunners. Arsene Wenger tried to sweep the matter under the carpet by saying talks have been shelved until the end of the season so that the team could concentrate on more important matters at hand. It didn’t work. The Chilean continues to be linked with a move away and now the latest is that Bayern have contacted his agent over a possible move this summer.
It remains to be seen what Sanchez will decide, but it does seem that this could be his final season at Arsenal, especially with the club looking highly likely to finish out of the top four following a poor campaign both in domestic and European competitions.
Although Wenger says Sanchez will stay, the Frenchman has also stated that if the former Barca man does decide to depart then it will not be for a Premier League rival, rather a team abroad – putting Bayern in a very good position to sign him.
Sanchez’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, also represents fellow countryman Artur Vidal, so he will know how to get the best deal for the Arsenal man should he be interested in a move to the Bavarian club this summer.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Sanchez stay at Arsenal. Personally, he looks a frustrated man and I will be very, very surprised if he signs a new deal at the Emirates.
