Malaga are seeking to extend midfielder Pablo Fornals’ contract in order to increase the 21 year old’s very modest release clause of €12m (£10.5m), reports Mundo Deportivo.

The Mirror linked the Spanish international with a switch to Arsenal once again today, while La Liga side Valencia are also reportedly interested in the player.

Fornals has had an impressive season for the Spanish club, helping them to a 11th place finish as manager Michel guided them away from the relegation places.

This campaign, the midfielder kicked on from his first international cap, which he was handed in a friendly against Bosnia last May, making 34 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and three assists.

Fornals only signed a new deal until 2019 last summer, but his performances for Malaga this season, along with the player’s low buyout clause, have prompted the club to make an improved offer in order to ward off potential suitors.
