The 23-year-old has arguably been Arsenal’s best player in the past few weeks and seems to have found a new lease of life playing in the new wing-back role which Arsene Wenger has deployed him in in the last couple of games.
Chamberlain’s current deal is set to expire in summer 2018, and there were fears among fans and the club that he could be on his way out at the end of the season as reported interest increased in the midfielder, with Liverpool and Manchester United though to be keen on the versatile midfielder.
This would be a massive deal for Arsenal to seal as Chamberlain looks to finally be fulfilling his potential. The only real concern for Chamberlain will be playing regularly for Arsenal next season. Wenger has a tendency of dropping players when they are performing well and Chamberlain has been a victim of this in the past, hence his slow progression in the side. Chamberlain needs to be playing regularly for Arsenal next season in order to fulfil his potential. If he becomes a bit-part player again then it will become the same status quo for the midfielder.
