Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has denied that midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will be allowed to leave the Italian club in the summer.
The Serbian was mentioned as a target of Arsenal by the Daily Express after they reported that potential new manager Massimiliano Allegri was a fan of the 22 year old. Tare is quoted by Tribal Football as saying:
“We are not even considering the possibility of Milinkovic-Savic leaving. These players must be given the time and space to develop and he’s already at a big club on a big stage.”
Milinkovic-Savic has yet to play for Serbia’s senior side, but he is seen as one of the country’s brightest young talents. He moved to Italy after spending a year in Belgian football with Racing Genk.
He is currently playing just his fourth season in professional football, but he has made a significant impact playing in Lazio’s first team this season. Playing mostly in his favoured central midfield role, Milinkovic-Savic has played 28 times in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing assists for six others. The 22 year old started the 2-0 win over Bologna yesterday and provided an assist for the second.
