Former Arsenal player Robert Pires thinks that Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann would be better served joining the Gunners rather than Manchester United in the summer.
Griezmann has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford but Pires told Natacha Tannous in an interview on her Youtube channel that the Frenchman would learn a lot more from fellow countryman Arsene Wenger if he were to move to the Emirates instead:
“This is only speculation about Antoine Griezmann and Manchester United. Why not see Griezmann at Arsenal? He has a good profile to play with this team. I think he could learn a lot with [Arsene] Wenger, with [Mesut] Ozil, Alexis [Sanchez], [Santi] Cazorla. Fingers crossed.”
Wenger’s own future beyond the end of the season has been placed in doubt after he has so far refused to commit to signing a new contract extension to stay as Gunners boss for a further two years.
Griezmann meanwhile has been in excellent form for Atletico, and has racked up 20 goals and 10 assists in 37 matches so far this campaign. He played against Valencia in the league match yesterday, and added two to his tally for the season as his team sealed a 3-0 win.
