Arsenal are reportedly preparing to launch a £25million bid for Barcelona’s Arda Turan should Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil depart the Emirates this summer.
The Arsenal duo are looking increasingly likely to leave the club at the end of the season while talks over new deals have been shelved by Arsene Wenger until the summer.
Last week, Spanish publication AS claimed that Barcelona are ready to offload the 30-year-old in order to fund a new deal for Lionel Messi, and Arsenal were once again linked with a move for the Turkey international this summer.
The Times (via The Sun) today suggests that the Arsenal hierarchy have already decided to spend the money on the potential sales of Sanchez and Ozil on the out-of-favour Barcelona playmaker, who is seen as an ideal replacement for the German.
Turan still has three-years left to run on his existing deal at the Camp Nou but has struggled to cement a regular first-team role in the side since joining from Atletico Madrid and appears to have become surplus to requirements at the La Liga club.
Turan will not be high on many Arsenal fans’ list of replacements for Ozil as there are better option out there for the club to pursue should the German international leave at the end of the season.
