Arsenal have handed Chilean teenager Marcelo Allende a trial, reports The Sun.
The 17-year-old, who has been dubbed the ‘new Alexis Sanchez’, was involved in Arsenal’s first-team training session yesterday, with Arsene Wenger keeping a close eye on the midfielder.
Allende, who plays for Chilean second division Deportes Santa Cruz, started at Sanchez’s first club Cobreloa and was spotted at the Emirates last October.
It’s believed Arsenal scouts were impressed with the youngster in October and invited him for another trial.
Allende was noticed by Arsenal when he was named Chile captain in the 2015 Under-17 World Cup where he helped guide his side to the last 16 of the competition.
It’s thought that Wenger could offer Allende an Arsenal deal if he impresses during his trial period.
Wenger has snapped up young, raw talent during his 20 years at Arsenal – Allende could be the next added to the Frenchman’s list.
