Inter Milan defender Gary Medel has denied knowing whether his friend and international team mate Alexis Sanchez will leave Arsenal this summer.
The former Cardiff player has won two Copa Americas with Sanchez at international level, and the forward has been linked in the Italian press with a move to Inter to join up with Medel. Asked in an interview with the Corriere Dello Sport (quotes via calciomercato.com) about whether the Gunners star could make the move, Medel said he doesn’t know what the future lies in store for the Chilean international:
“Alexis is a player we all know, one of those strikers who all the top clubs are seeking. I do not know what will be his future, but if you ask me about Inter, I will say that here there is a large group, a very good coach and a leadership that is hungry for victories. A project like this can not be found anywhere.”
Inter are now owned by a Chinese Consortium called the Suning Group. They have been working under Financial Fairplay restrictions since they took over the club in June, but with the regulations lifting they are reportedly prepared to splash the cash with Sanchez firmly in their sights to be a marquee signing for the club. Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly interested if the Arsenal star opts to leave the Emirates in the summer.
