Schalke manager Christian Heidel has told left-back Sead Kolasinac he must resolve his future in order to play at his full potential for the German club between now and the end of the season.

The Bosnian international has been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus in recent weeks but a move did not materialise in the January transfer window.

Chelsea in particular were keen on making a deal last month but Schalke are believed to have turned down any offers for the player. The 23-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he is currently free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club of his choosing.

Heidel says Kolasinac must decide whether to sign a new contract with Schalke or to make his mind up to leave, or risk the situation disrupting his focus and form this campaign.

He told Sport Bild:

“For Sead it is important that he has a clear head to get to his potential. Without exerting any pressure, I told him that it was important to decide [on his future] in a timely manner”

The full-back has played 19 times for Schalke this season, scoring two goals and providing six assists so far in all competitions.
