Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has emerged as a shock candidate to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
Wenger’s future is still in doubt despite hinting he could remain on as Arsenal boss before his contract expires over the summer. It has led to speculation over who could replace Wenger and Benitez is supposedly in the mix, should the Frenchman decide to walk away from the Emirates at the end of the season.
The Daily Mirror (via The Sun) claims if Benitez was to be offered the Arsenal job then the former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss will ask Gunners legend Thierry Henry to join his backroom staff.
The Arsenal hierarchy have allegedly drawn up a list of potential candidates to replace Wenger, they include Juve’s Max Allegri, Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, Monaco’s Leonardo Jardim, Eddie Howe of Bournemouth and Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone to name but a few.
