Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is seeking a return to Spain in the summer, according to AS. The Spanish newspaper reports the 32 year old wants to a return to his homeland.
The playmaker has struggled with a chronic ankle injury since October, and has had two operations in order to try and fix the problem. The Spaniard was supposed to return to first team action at some point this month but it seems he is still quite a way from full fitness.
There is some uncertainty over Cazorla’s contract situation. The Gunners are believed to have an option to extend the midfielder’s contract by a further year but there has been no official announcement from the club about the extension being activated.
As it stands, the Spanish international’s current deal expires at the end of the season, which would leave him free to sign a contract with a La Liga side. Turkish club Fenerbahce are also considering a move for Cazorla, reports from Turkey suggest.
