Arsenal have been scouting Sheffield Wednesday forward George Hirst, according to the People (via the Daily Star).

The 17-year-old is the son of former Wednesday and England striker David Hirst, who is now a youth coach at his former club. George has been playing mostly for the Under 18 side so far but has managed to play two games for the senior side under Carlos Carvalhal this season.

He came on as a 62nd minute substitute to make his debut for Wednesday in the EFL Cup first round tie against Cambridge United back in August. His first game however ended in defeat with the Championship outfit losing 2-1 to the League Two side after extra time.

Hirst then made his league debut a few months later against Reading in December. He replaced Sam Hutchinson on the left wing with 13 minutes to go but was unable to help as Wednesday once again went down to a 2-1 defeat.
