Arsene Wenger has admitted that he will not make a move for wantaway West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet this month.

The France international, 29, has told Slaven Bilic that he no longer wants to remain at West Ham, citing family issues as his reason for this.

Payet has since been linked with clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, the Chinese Super League and former club Marseille, who have already had two bids rejected by the Hammers.

Wenger is known to be a keen admirer of the Frenchman, but when asked if he will make a move for him, he answered:

‘I rate Payet but I don’t need Payet because we have so many creative players.

‘We have many players who can play in this position.’

Payet was easily West Ham’s standout performers last season and was amongst the better players in the Premier League. However, he has struggled to reach the same heights he did last term.

Although giftedly talented, especially in the set-piece department, Payet’s loyalty, attitude and professionalism will come into question.
