Arsenal are preparing a £51million bid for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus, but only if they lose the services of Alexis Sanchez, reports WhoScored.com.
The 28-year-old Chilean is yet to agree an extension on his current deal which expires at the end of next season and the club are fearful that they could lose him over the summer with several top European clubs monitoring his situation. As a result, the Gunners are drawing up a list of potential replacements and Reus is reportedly on it.
Although Arsene Wenger has declared that Sanchez will not be going anywhere, even if he fails to sign a new deal, but the Frenchman will undoubtedly be concerned and putting a contingency plan into place.
So WhoScored.com, who claim Emanuele Giulianelli broke the news and visa versa, suggest Wenger will therefore approach Dortmund over the possibility of signing the 27-year-old German international.
Reus still has two years left to run on his current deal and Dortmund will be reluctant to sell one of their prized assets.
However, it’s been claimed that Arsenal have opened negotiations with the Bundesliga club over Reus and are prepared to offer £51million to secure his signature at the end of the season. Of course, this proposed deal will depend on whether the Gunners have Sanchez amongst their ranks come the end of the summer transfer window.
I say get Reus in regardless if Sanchez is an Arsenal player next season or not, as he would be a massive signing for the club.
