Arsene Wenger has reportedly made a call to Juventus playmaker Miralem Pjanic to ask if he would like to join Arsenal, and The Sun suggests the Bosnian is keen on the move, with both working towards a verbal agreement.

It’s believed Wenger is now looking for a long-term replacement for Santi Cazorla and has targeted Pjanic as the Spaniard’s successor.

Arsenal are now ready to test the water by submitting a £28 million offer to Juventus, who are reportedly reluctant to sell having failed to land Axel Witsel from Zenit.

Pjanic has been in impressive form since moving to the Serie A champions from Roma last summer for £25 million.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has netted and created six goals in 19 appearances in all competitions so far this season for Juve and was linked with a move to the Premier League prior his move to the Turin club.

Cazorla has just six months left to run on his existing deal at Arsenal, and although it is likely that the Spaniard will sign a new deal with the Gunners, at 32, Wenger may be pondering the idea of finding a long-term fit for the diminutive playmaker and sees Pjanic as an ideal candidate for the job.
