Torino forward Andrea Belotti says he is keeping his head down after reports linking him with a move to Arsenal emerged over the weekend.

The Italian club’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi told reporters that the Gunners had bid £56million for the 23-year-old but the London club have since distanced themselves from any approach for the striker.

Belotti was asked yesterday by Italian newspaper Tuttosport about the link to Arsenal but he said he was determined to concentrate on his football:

‘I have to continue like this, I can not let it go to my head. I always have to work, I hope to play a good 2017 to conquer my dreams . The Premier? I do not think about it, I just think of Il Toro [Torino’s nickname] and doing well here, then we will see.’

It is unlikely that the Gunners would have bid such a substantial figure for Belotti. Despite having an excellent start to the 2016/17 season with 14 goals in 19 games in all competitions, it is the forward’s first prolific season in Serie A after scoring 12 and six league goals in his previous two campaigns in the top flight.

The Italian international no doubt has a promising future ahead of him but with Arsene Wenger already having Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez all firing in the goals, it is more likely a move for Belotti would only take place if one of them departs.
