Liverpool are interested in signing long-term Arsenal target and Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to reports in Portugal.
The Portugal international has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal and the Gunners reportedly had an offer turned down by the Portuguese club last summer. Carvalho’s name emerges now and again and Arsenal are always mentioned. However, it is highly unlikely that Arsene Wenger will make an offer for the midfielder’s services in the near future having signed Granit Xhaka last summer from Borussia Monchengladbach, but it hasn’t been ruled out.
A Bola now claim Jurgen Klopp is ‘committed’ to signing Carvalho with Liverpool representatives in Lisbon to wrap up a deal for the 24-year-old. But the Portuguese website say the Merseyside club will have to fork out over £25 million for Sporting to even consider letting the midfielder leave.
Carvalho has made 24 total appearances for Sporting so far this season and still has just under three-and-a-half-years left on his current contract.
