AC Milan are hoping to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere for much less than the €30million (£26m) that the Gunners demanded last summer, according to calciomercato.com.

The Italian website report that as the 25-year-old has not been offered a new deal, and will have just one year remaining on his current contract next summer, that they can make a much lower bid to land the England international.

Wilshere turned down loan opportunities in Italy last yearto join Bournemouth on loan and improve his fitness levels. After a campaign so far without injury, Milan are hopeful that Wilshere is now ready to move abroad.

Another interesting point Calciomercato makes is the issue around the number 10 shirt. They report that Mesut Ozil has asked for the number as part of his contract negotiations and that if Arsenal do take the shirt off Wilshere, it could play a small part in the midfielder leaving the Emirates this summer, especially if no new contract offer is made.
