Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is still keen on signing Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, according to the Times (paywall). City’s boss is looking at potential full-back targets and rates the Spaniard very highly.
Guardiola is said to have not been put off by Bellerin signing a new deal to stay the Emirates. The 21-year-old signed a huge six-and-a-half-year contract to stay with the Gunners back in November, and Arsenal will fight tooth and nail to keep one of their brightest talents at the club.
The Times report that Guardiola will not make any move in the January transfer window as it would prove very difficult but he has been backed by City to bankroll a transfer next summer.
Before signing his new deal, Bellerin had been the subject of interest from Barcelona but the full-back stated after signing on the dotted line that he “wasn’t thinking about anything else other than staying” with the Gunners.
