Standard Liege goalkeeper Guillaume Hubert has admitted it is “nice” to be linked with a move to Arsenal, but he says that he hasn’t heard of any interest from the Gunners.

Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heures revealed last month that Arsene Wenger’s side were tracking the 6ft 6 in keeper, and when asked about links to the Premier League side in an interview with the same newspaper, Hubert replied:

‘It’s nice to hear such things, even though I’m not aware of anything.

‘There are a lot of big goalkeepers in England, I think it’s something that attracts them. Personally, I appreciate playing football but I think that all players would like, one day, to evolve.

‘I only focus on Standard, the club where I have always wanted to settle in the long term.’

Hubert is experiencing his first season as Standard’s number one goalkeeper after making his full debut in the Jupiler Pro League against Charleroi in October 2015.

So far this campaign, Hubert has made 12 appearances in all competitions after replacing Jean-Francois Gillet as first choice for the Europa League group stage match against Panathinaikos back in early November.

Wenger has said he won’t be making any major signings in the current transfer window, and it is likely that the Gunners would only follow up their reported interest in Hubert next summer.
