Arsenal and Juventus will look to engage in a player exchange at the end of the season involving Alexis Sanchez and Miralem Pjanic, a source in Italy states.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Arsene Wenger made contact with Pjanic, 26, over the possibility of joining Arsenal this summer, with the creative midfielder said to be keen on the prospect. It’s been said that the Gunners are preparing a £28 million offer for the Bosnian, but Tuttosport now claim the Gunners will wait until the end of the season and use contract rebel Sanchez as what they referred to the Chilean as ‘bait’.

The 28-year-old has entered his last 18 months of his current deal at Arsenal and there have been no signs of a renewal, with reports suggesting the striker wants £300,000-a-week to remain at the club. However, Arsenal are only supposedly willing to offer him £180,000-a-week. Because of delayed contract talks, Sanchez has inevitably been linked with a move away from the Emirates and Manchester City, Juventus, Inter Milan and Chinese Super League outfit Hebei China Fortune are all keen.

Knowing Sanchez is arguably the club’s best player and one of Europe’s finest forwards, it’s a strange move for Arsenal to even consider, and while Pjanic would be a good addition to the squad, exchanging him for the Chilean would be foolish and would certainly have the fans up in arms.
