Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Saint Etienne’s young goalkeeping talent Anthony Maisonnial, according to Laurent Hess of But! Football Club.

The French website say that the Gunners have been watching the 18-year-old closely since he made his way through the Clarefontaine Academy and are keen admirers of the player. On scout is said to have spotted him playing for France’s Under-19 side.

The high regard in which Maisonnial is held in is demonstrated by the fact he has already started matches in Ligue One for Saint Etienne. After being named on the substitute bench for a Europa League match earlier in the season, he made his debut in 2-1 defeat against Lorient in mid December. He kept his place for the 0-0 draw against Nancy four days later.

After the winter break, he returned to play in goal in the French Cup but he has lost his place to Jessy Moulin for the last two league games against Lille and Angers.
