Arsenal are looking at making a move for Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes, according to calciomercato.it.

The Argentine is believed to be one candidate the Gunners are looking at if Santi Cazorla departs at the end of the season.

The Spaniard’s contract expires this summer and he is eligible to talk to other clubs about a free transfer. He is currently sidelined with a problematic ankle injury which has kept him out since mid October. He is expected to return to action at the end of February.

Paredes is believed to be valued at between €18-20 million (£15-17 million) by Roma, reports calciomercato.it. He has made 11 starts for Luciano Spalletti’s side in all competitions this season, with 18 appearances in all, scoring one goal. He predominately plays in a holding midfield or central midfield role.

French clubs Lyon and Monaco are also believed to be interested in Paredes, while Sevilla and Zenit St Petersburg have been linked with the 22-year-old in the past. The Italian media reported back in the summer that he was subject to a bid from Leicester City.
