Yesterday, Ray Wilkins suggested Arsenal could get at least £80 million for the sale of Alexis Sanchez to a Chinese Super League club, if the Gunners fail to agree a new contract with the Chile international.

With 18 months left to run on his existing contract at the Emirates and with talks over a new deal at a halt, Sanchez has become a subject of interest of clubs in China, mainly Manuel Pellegrini’s side Hebei China Fortune who in midweek were reportedly ready to offer the Arsenal striker a staggering £500,000-a-week to sign for them.

Other reports this week have claimed Arsenal have offered Sanchez £180,000-a-week to remain at the club beyond 2018, but it’s believed he wants at least £250,000-a-week. However, the Chilean has now suggested that he has yet to start negotiations over a new deal and has put the onus on the club to make the first move in contract negotiations.

And althought Wilkins believes Sanchez is a superb footballer and important player for the Gunners, the north London club would do well to get at least £80 million for his sale, rather than see him play for a rival:

‘If Arsenal are looking and the Chinese are coming in with those kind of offers, I reckon that’s £80m for Sanchez.

‘That’s Arsenal’s get out.’

But if Sanchez doesn’t decide to extend his stay at Arsenal and a Chinese club is willing to offer £80 million for his services, should the club sell him?
