Southampton are targeting a move for Arsenal striker Lucas Perez, according to a report by Football Insider (via goal.com).

The Saints are seeking to strengthen their attacking options after losing key striker Charlie Austin for several months due to a dislocated shoulder and are eyeing up the Arsenal forward.

Austin has scored nine goals in 19 games so far this campaign while fellow strikers Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez have scored none and two goals respectively as we head to the half way mark of the season.

Southampton manager Claude Puel is therefore seeking other options and has targeted a move for Perez who only joined the Gunners from Deportivo La Coruna for £17million in the summer.

The 28-year-old is behind both Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud in the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium but has scored five goals in five starts so far this season; most notably scoring a hat-trick against Basel in the Champions League in the 4-1 victory earlier this month.
