Arsene Wenger has rubbished claims that winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be subject to a bid from Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Sky Sports, the Daily Telegraph and the Guardian all reported in recent days that the Reds would attempt to buy the 23 year old next month only for the club’s manager Jurgen Klopp to dismiss the claims as “nonsense” in his pre-match press conference yesterday.

Wenger has now added his voice rejecting the rumours. When asked about whether the link was true, he was quoted by the Metro as saying:

“No. We all have to face a lot of wrong information. We have to live with that. We cannot influence that.”

Wenger’s side face Crystal Palace at home on New Years Day. They may be able to leapfrog either Manchester City or Liverpool with a win if one side is victorious at Anfield tomorrow evening. Chelsea however could extend their lead over the Gunners at the top of the Premier League table with a win over Stoke City at Stamford Bridge tomorrow afternoon.
