Genk winger Leon Bailey’s agent has revealed that Manchester United are very much in the running for the young Jamaican’s signature, but his club’s asking price is putting off potential suitors.

Speaking to Belgian newspaper HLN (translated by Tribal Football), Ronnie Rosenthal said:

‘Manchester United is one of the top clubs who are very interested. But 20 million, that is rather a price for players who have already proven themselves in the Champions League or in a big competition.’

Arsenal scouts have made regular appearances at Genk matches this season according to HLN. They were believed to be present for Genk’s match against Standard Liege in the 2-2 draw on Sunday.

Ostensibly, HLN report, the Gunners’ representatives were there to watch Standard keeper Guillaume Hubert, but no doubt they would also have kept a close eye on Bailey’s progress. They would have seen the 19-year-old provide an assist for Omar Colley to open the scoring in the match.

So far this season, Bailey has made a good impression with eight goals and nine assists in 31 matches. His performances in the Europa League have been particularly noteworthy with seven goals coming in 12 outings in the European competition.
