Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli has targeted Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud as one possible signing in the January transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.
It has been reported by RMC Sport that Giroud is close to signing a contract extension which will keep him at the Emirates stadium until 2019 but the Spanish newspaper say that Sevilla are targeting a move for the forward.
Giroud is said to be one of six names on a list of targets that the La Liga side are looking at. Along with Giroud, West Ham’s Jonathan Calleri, Atletico Mineiro’s Lucas Pratto, AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca, Gerard Moreno of Espanyol, Real Madrid’s Mariano and Lukas Teodorczyk of Anderlecht are all potential candidates.
Giroud has struggled for game time with the Gunners this season with Alexis Sanchez taking the sole centre-forward position in the team. He has made just two starts in all competitions this campaign, with nine substitute appearances coming in league matches.
