Arsene Wenger is in the hunt for a new left-back and has targeted Valencia’s Jose Gaya.
John Cross from The Daily Mirror suggests the Frenchman is looking to bolster the full-back position is eyeing up a move for the promising 21-year-old.
Nacho Monreal is the club’s first-choice left-back, but the 30-year-old Spaniard has been below par this season, while the Gunners are yet to offer back-up option Kieran Gibbs a new deal with only 18 months left to run on his contract.
However, Arsenal will wait until the end of the season to make a move for Gaya, but will be keeping tabs on the promising Spaniard until then.
Gaya joined Valencia in 2012 but it was only until the 2013/14 season that the left-back put his stamp on the first-team. He made 37 total appearances last season, scoring two goals along the way, and has already amassed 33 in the current campaign and become the first-choice player in this position.
The Spaniard still has over three-and-a-half-years left to run on his current deal at the Mestalla, so his signature will come at a high price.
