Akpom has had a long spell out with a back injury this season and has only featured once for the first-team in the 4-0 win over in the EFL Cup back in September.

The 21-year-old looks to be on the verge of signing on loan for side . ’s side have struggled for goals this campaign with just 22 goals in 22 league matches. Their top goalscorer is midfielder Grant Ward who has scored five league goals this season.

Akpom spent the whole of last season on loan at but only managed seven goals in 41 appearances.

If he does move on loan to the Tractor Boys he will be hoping to improve his goal ratio, and make a lasting impression this time playing at Championship level.
