Arsenal had a representative at the Europa League match between SC Braga and Shakhtar Donetsk last night, according to Abola.

The Portuguese newspaper suggest that the Gunners, along with a number of other clubs, were watching Shakhtar’s Brazilian pair Bernard and Taison.

Out of the two, Bernard would be the most likely that the Gunners would be interested in as they were linked to the player before he moved to the Ukraine. The 24-year-old joined Shakhtar in 2013 from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro but struggled to establish himself during his first three seasons despite being bought for €25million.

The Brazilian has however begun this season in a rich vein of form. In 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season, Bernard has scored four goals and provided six assists. He plays most of his football from the left wing but did come on as substitute against Braga last night on the right wing in a 4-2 victory. Shakhtar finished top of their Europa League group after winning all six group games.
