A couple of weeks ago, the Daily Mail mentioned that Borussia Dortmund Marco Reus was being lined up by Arsenal as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez after interest emerged from China in the Chilean. A more reputable source in the Daily Telegraph has reinforced this rumour today.

Writing in the newspaper, Jeremy Wilson says Arsene Wenger sees Reus as a direct replacement for Sanchez. The Chilean international is in negotiations over a new deal to stay beyond his current contract that expires in 2018 but speculation has arisen after the 28-year-old received hugely lucrative offers from abroad.

An offer of £180,000 a week has reportedly been put on the table for Sanchez to sign but offers from the Far East are apparently over double that amount.

If negotiations do stall and the Chilean is sold then it appears Wenger sees Reus as the obvious choice to replace him. He can play out wide or through the middle, and has a good goalscoring record for Dortmund.
