Arsenal are reportedly lining up a move for Dortmund’s Marco Reus, should Alexis Sanchez leave the club.

The Arsenal striker is still believed to be negotiating a new deal to remain at the Emirates beyond summer 2018, but nothing has yet been agreed, fuelling speculation that the Chilean could be on his way.

Reports earlier in the week claimed Sanchez wants more than £200,000-a-week to stay at Arsenal, but sources today claim he is seeking a sum in the region of £400,000-a-week after being offered this by a team in China. The Chile international could now use this as leverage to get vastly more than even he intended to.

With talks hitting multiple stumbling blocks, Arsene Wenger is preparing himself for the worst, and that is Sanchez leaving.

Marco Reus, according to The Daily Star, is in Wenger’s sights as Sanchez’s possible replacement, with the German international also favoured by the scouts who have been watching the 27-year-old regularly.

The Dortmund forward has netted 78 goals in 168 games for the Bundesliga club and is viewed as one of Europe’s finest in his position.

Reus has however suffered with a long-term groin injury he picked up before the end of last season which saw him being ruled out of Euro 2016 and has been limited to just two appearances so far this season for Dortmund.

Arsenal could get another look at the German tonight when Dortmund take on Real Madrid in the Champions League.
