Arsenal among five teams trailing wantaway star

Arsenal remain interested in signing James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, according to Mundo Deportivo (via tuttomercatoweb).

The Spanish newspaper report that Juventus, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and the Gunners are the five main clubs who will look to make a move for the Colombian international.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced Real’s transfer ban to just one transfer window which, according to the Daily Mail, could mean that Rodriguez could be allowed to leave the Bernabeu in January.

With the original two window transfer ban in place, any permanent transfer for the 25-year-old would have had to wait until January 2018, but now with the reduced ban, a permanent transfer can happen in the summer freeing up transfer funds for the Spanish club.

It would also allow Rodriguez to impress a new club on a six month loan spell. Although no club would go near the staggering £420 million buyout clause in Rodriguez’s contract, Real will still be looking to recoup a great deal of the estimated £67 million they paid Monaco back in the summer of 2014.
