For many, the case is still out on Shkodran Mustafi.
Whilst the German international, who was signed in the summer from Valencia, has looked solid enough alongside Laurent Koscielny this season he hasn’t exactly put in a performance where you’ve felt ‘he’s top drawer.’
Indeed, on quite a few occasions Arsenal’s goal has been protected by the aforementioned Koscielny’s last ditch efforts this season and that should not be a theme given that the Gunners saw Mustafi as one of the last pieces in their jigsaw to win the title.
Of course, it’s still early days in his Gunners career and there can be no doubt that he deserves more time to properly establish himself but if he doesn’t show at least some promising signs, Arsene Wenger may be forced into the market for another central defender.
