Do these five first-team loanees have a future at Arsenal?

Callum Chambers

Chambers

The England international is currently on a season-long loan at Middlesborough, but made one appearance for the Gunners before leaving in the summer.

In the past two seasons, Chambers has shown his versatility as a player, operating as a centre-back, right-back and defensive midfielder, and has made 59 appearances for the Gunners (38 as a starter).

Despite his bright start to life at Arsenal, a loan move away this summer was likely to happen. Last season, Chambers was limited to first-team opportunities and made just two Premier League starts and a further seven in the domestic cup competitions.

Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Gabriel and Hector Bellerin were all in front of him in the pecking order, and with Arsene Wenger seeking out a new centre-back, the 21-year-old knew he wouldn’t feature much this season for the Gunners.

Chambers has so far made four appearances for Boro, but this is highly likely to increase as the season progresses.

I have no doubt in my mind that the former Southampton defender has a future at Arsenal, his versatility alone would be invaluable to the side. But another loan move could be in the offing in the future.
