Both Arsenal and Liverpool are keeping tabs on the Marseille starlet who has been dubbed the ‘new Samir Nasri’, Maxime Lopez.

The Sun reports that the Premier League duo sent scouts to watch the highly-rated 18-year-old midfielder make his first appearance for the Ligue 1 club on Sunday against Bordeaux where he was the standout performer in the drab 0-0.

Lopez, who can also operate as a frontman or as a midfield playmaker, has been labelled as the brightest prospects to come out of the Marseille academy since Nasri in 2004.

He has been compared to Nasri due to his creativity and technical ability, as well as playing in the same positions as the former Gunner and Manchester City man.

It’s believed Arsene Wenger was keen to bring Lopez to Arsenal in 2014, but the teenage sensation opted to seal a professional deal with his hometown club instead.

However, Marseille may now struggle to hold on to their young star albeit renewed interest coming from the Premier League duo.
