Arsenal have approached Roma over the availability of Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes, according to reports in Italy.
The 22-year-old is viewed as one of Serie A’s brightest prospects and still has over three-years left on his current deal at Roma.
Tuttomercatoweb claims the Gunners have made their interest known in the defensive midfielder, but are unlikely to make a move for him in January. It is believed the north London club will wait until next summer and monitor Paredes’ progress until then.
Paredes joined Roma on a loan deal in July 2014 from Boca Juniors before signing for the Italian club on a permanent basis in September 2015.
Paredes spent last season on loan at Empoli, where he was ever-present. This season, the Argentine has made nine starts for the Giallorossi, five in Serie A and four in the Europa League, and scored one goal.
Arsene Wenger may look to add another midfielder next summer, with Jack Wilshere’s future uncertain at the Emirates.
