Arsenal have sent scouts to keep an eye on Genoa striker Leonardo Pavoletti, according to Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato.

The 27-year-old signed for the Serie A side last season and immediately hit the ground running, scoring on his debut in their 2-0 win over Verona on August 30.

Pavoletti just went from strength to strength after then, despite a few injury concerns, and netted a further 14 times to help Genoa to an 11th place finish in Italy’s top-flight.

He’s also started this season in decent form, scoring a brace in his side’s 3-1 win over Crotone in August, and was rewarded by being called up to the Italy senior squad for their matches against France and Israel last month.

Although he has missed out on selection for the Azzuri’s upcoming internationals, Pavoletti appears to have attracted interest from the Premier League, with Liverpool joining Arsene Wenger’s side in sending scouts to track the 27-year-old’s progress.

Pavoletti’s form has been monitored by Championship side Leeds United over the past few years, but no deal ever materialised, and his recent form for Genoa appears to have alerted those near the upper echelons of the Premier League.

Whether or not both Arsenal and Liverpool bid for the forward in January remains to be seen, but his recent form in Italy could suggest that he’s destined for a move sooner rather than later.
