Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is on the verge of joining Championship side Nottingham Forest, according to The Guardian.

The Denmark international built up something of a cult following during his time in North London, with his acrimonious reputation and ego more prevalent than his ability on the pitch.

Bendtner was on the Emirates Stadium outfit’s books for ten years from 2004 until 2014, scoring 28 Premier League goals in over 100 appearances.

The Scandinavian centre forward left Arsenal to join Wolfsburg but found regular first-team football hard to come by in the Bundesliga.

Bendtner is yet to find a new club after being released by the Germans in the summer, despite speculation linking him to a number of new teams.

Forest look set to bring the Dane back to English football and take a punt on him scoring consistently in the Championship.

In an interesting subplot, Arsenal could face Bendtner in the League Cup as the Gunners have been drawn against Forest in the third round.
