Arsenal couldn’t have had a much tougher start to the season, and the results, a loss and a draw, have shown just how hard they’ve had it. The opening weekend saw them face a Liverpool side perfectly set-up to exploit defensive frailties – of which the Gunners had plenty given their injuries – before a game against the reigning champions, Leicester City, enjoying their first match at home following their title glory.

Alas, gameweek three offers some respite with a short trip out of London to take on Watford at Vicarage Road. Although the Hornets will be no pushover, an Arsenal team playing at close to their full potential should have too much over 90 minutes, so it may be worth picking some Gunners in your FanDuel team this weekend, and here are THREE that could earn you points and cash:

Petr Cech – £9.75

Even with four goals conceded on the opening weekend, Cech has averaged 9.75 points across the two gameweeks so far, and with Watford not exactly firing on all cylinders – they’ve netted two times – a clean sheet is not out of the question. The giant Czech stopper is also adept at keeping the ball moving at the back with short passes, while his distribution is generally spot on.

Santi Cazorla – £10.7m

With Arsenal having been hit with some attacking midfield injuries and Cazorla having returned to fitness, the Spaniard looks a pretty good bet for points this weekend. The 31-year-old playmaker was instrumental when he came on in the Liverpool loss as he notched two assists, and with set-piece duty his on his list of responsibilities, Cazorla has potential to add to that tally. The former Villarreal and Malaga man also hit five shots on target against Leicester last week, which was one of the better returns in Premier League action from a midfielder.

Granit Xhaka – £7.6m

After being eased in following his £30m+ move to Arsenal, Xhaka is likely to feature heavily from now on, and the Swiss ace offers interceptions, energy and tackles from midfield. Although Xhaka racks up the yellow cards, he registered a mighty fine 15.25 points last weekend with three chances created from deep notable alongside his other defensively-minded traits.
